Our sensors may or may not work. Hard to tell. We don't even know if they exist. But they are definitely on the wrong setting
Here's why.
The zone on the main page was watered on Friday Night August 6th. 2021. According to the weather service we received 1.03 inches of rain on Saturday morning. I was told long ago the sensors will deactivate for only 24 hours if we receive more than 0.25 inches of rain
I'm assuming the sensor worked. But by Sunday night August 8th, the zone was on again watering the weeds and boulevard because it had been more that 24 since last precipitation. It was actually just 30 hours before.
So that zone was watered 3 days in a row. 2 by Evermoor, Friday and Sunday night, and 1 by Mother Nature, Saturday morning. What a waste. So obviously the timer needs to be set for 48 hours not 24. I've seen some sensors sold which have the 48 hour setting. Imagine how much water and money would be saved by just installing these sensors?
Overwatering is bad for the grass and can suffocate the roots.
Rain Sensor Update: Rosemount received over an inch of rain on Tuesday August 24th and Thursday August 26th. But, as you can guess, Evermoor was watering on Connemara that evening. So the Rain sensor must be broken. I sent an email to the Property Management company, FirstService, but have not heard back. According to the letter they sent me the sensors will be replaced when they fail, and will be replaced within a reasonable time. Since FirstService and Evermoor employ classic passive aggressive behavior, it won't be fixed anytime this year. More money down the drain.
